Kenyan coffees continue to become very difficult to find as doughts, development and a retiring generation of farmers all impact the amount of coffee being harvested in Kenya. That said, we were able to procure this exceptional lot of coffee from the Chania Estate. This varietal, dubbed French Mission Bourbon, was first brought to the region by missionaries in the late 1800's. This region of Kenya has some of the most perfect soil and environmental conditions that exist for coffee. This translates into the cup with a very clean, bright acidity with nuances of grapefruit and cranberries.
We roast it to a light / cinnamon profile which enhances the brilliant acidity.
