Our Coffees
The heart and soul of our business lies in our premium freshly roasted coffees. We purchase the best quality coffees from around the world and roast them fresh daily, offering a well-rounded array of single origin and house-developed custom blends. We specialize in light to medium-light roasts because in fact, the longer a coffee roasts the more prominent the taste of the roasting process becomes in the cup. At lighter roasts you taste only the true, natural sweet flavors of the coffees themselves.
Let’s compare it to something familiar and just as well loved, wine. Your $7 - $9 bottle of wine is like your grocery-store-variety coffee. The over-all quality of these coffees is lacking and you can tell by the bitter and flat flavor. Many of these levels of coffee are roasted dark to veil the caliber of flavor missing in the beans. Our typical Coal Creek coffees are like your $30 - $50 bottles of wine. Most of us will only get to experience a few of these in our lifetime, yet that is the quality of coffee we serve and sell every day. The inherent flavor of these coffees has to be experienced to be appreciated. They truly taste sublime. And then we have our Cup of Excellence coffees. These are like $100 bottles of wine!

Summary: The Cup of Excellence is a strict competition that selects the very best coffee produced in that country for that particular year. These winning coffees are chosen by a select group of national and international cuppers and are cupped at least five different times during the competition process. The final winners are awarded the prestigious Cup of Excellence® and sold to the highest bidder during an internet auction.
